Orlando Magic CEO Alex Martins Steps Down as Franchise Enters New Era

After more than three decades with the organization, Orlando Magic CEO Alex Martins is stepping down — marking a significant leadership shift for the franchise as it looks to the future.

The Magic confirmed Tuesday that Martins will transition to the role of Vice Chair effective July 1, capping off a storied career that has shaped both the team and the broader Orlando community.

“We thank Alex for his exemplary service to the Magic organization as CEO,” said Orlando Magic Chairman Dan DeVos. “Since joining the team in 1989, Alex’s commitment to excellence has distinguished him as an extraordinary leader in our organization and the Orlando community.”

Martins has been with the Magic since the team’s earliest days, rising through the ranks and playing a pivotal role in its business operations, community initiatives, and long-term growth.

As part of the leadership restructure, Ryan DeVos will step into an expanded role as Managing Director. His responsibilities will include aligning the Magic’s business strategies with DeVos family values, strengthening community relationships, and working closely with the team’s Board of Directors.

This executive transition comes as the Magic continue to refresh their identity both on and off the court. In recent weeks, the team unveiled a modernized logo and updated uniforms, part of a rebranding effort that honors the franchise’s history while introducing new design elements — including the return of the iconic star symbol that has long defined the Magic’s look.

The leadership changes and rebranding signal a new chapter for the franchise as it works to elevate its presence in the league and the Orlando community.

Alex Martins’ legacy leaves big shoes to fill, but the Magic’s future is already taking shape.
