On April 19, 2024 at about 10:30 p.m., deputies were called to the Indigo Winter Park Apartments on U.K. Circle in response to a man that was holding a gun and who pointed that gun at several residents.
When deputies arrived, they heard one gunshot, and encountered the man, who was still holding the gun. A deputy fired their service weapon, striking the man. Deputies rendered aid and the man was transported to the hospital in critical condition. The subject’s firearm was recovered on scene.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting and will turn over its findings to the State Attorney’s Office for review. Once that process is completed, OCSO will conduct its own internal investigation.
The deputy that fired their weapon is on temporary, paid administrative leave pending the initial FDLE review.
