Outside of the recent news about President Trump’s bold actions to place tariffs on exported goods from specific countries, there are other impactful issues that have faded from mainstream media. Congressman Maxwell Frost says he has not taken his focus away from the reason he was elected to serve.
The Democratic Caucus is here to hold the line and call out the BS
The first Gen Z and Afro-Cuban member of Congress has earned his reputation of being a no-nonsense voice for struggling Americans. Representative Frost was only 26-years-old when he was elected to Congress. Now, at the age of 28, the Congressman says although Democrats have an uphill battle, he and the Democratic caucus are ready for a fight. “We’re in a bit of a situation where we don’t have the amount of political power — institutional power we’d like — to implement policies that we think will bring down costs for working families to keep people safe.” Frost added, “The Democratic Caucus is here to hold the line and call out the BS.”
The White House Office of Gun Violence and Prevention Goes Dark
Since Trump was elected, Democrats have been playing both offense and defense. In a little over 24 hours after Trump was sworn into his second term, the website for The White House Office of Gun Violence and Prevention went dark. Frost said he launched his political career after being devastated by the news of the Sandy Hook massacre. Frost was a child at that time and said he was afraid to get shot in school. One of his major accomplishments against gun violence was the pressure he put on Congress to establish The White House Office of Gun Violence and Prevention. Frost said the office is not a political one. “It is an office that goes to communities and gives money to community-based organizations to end gun violence,” he said. Frost said he will be reintroducing his bill. After the site went dark, Frost wrote on social media, “We fought for years to make this office a reality and lives were saved because of it. Stay tuned because we’re not giving up on this.” Frost also slammed Trump for dismissing the Office. “The fact that a guy that’s been shot at would take away The White House Office of Gun Violence and Prevention shows the ignorance and evil we’re battling in the fight to end gun violence in this country.”

Immigration
Trump campaigned on cracking down on undocumented people. “Part of the issue is that so many people have their mind set that Trump is just going to be looking to deport the most violent, undocumented people — which is not the truth. He’s looking to come for all undocumented people; innocent people.” Frost said. “It has nothing to do with the border. It’s not a border bill, it’s a bill that would give the authority to require ICE to detain for an indefinite period of time any undocumented person who is accused of a crime. They don’t even need to be charged, which means that with the point of a finger any person who’s undocumented can be detained and possibly deported without even having committed a crime. And guess what? The bill is for everybody including children. We have to have our eyes wide open that this is not an effort to make America safer. It’s an effort to make America more violent towards those in our community who are undocumented. In which, in Orlando, there are many,” Frost said.

War of Words Between Frost and Musk
Recently, billionaire Trump supporter Elon Musk took aim at Frost. Musk used his social media platform to express his frustration with the Congressman’s comments about the president and Republicans. Frost fired back. Frost tells The Florida Sun, Donald Trump and the Republican Party have given billionaires an insane amount of influence because they’re rich. “Which just shows that the United States is falling into an oligarchy where the wealthiest people are making all the decisions,” Frost said. “Donald Trump campaigned on doing stuff for working people yet people calling the shots are people like Elon Musk. I called that out online and it went viral and Elon didn’t like me calling out that,” Frost explains. “So, he’s called me a jackass, he said I’m going to be voted out in 2 years and he also said he wants to fund a challenger against me.” Frost is taking Musk’s threats seriously and has been warning his constituents of the possibility of a possible challenger backed by Musk. Frost said, “If you see someone who’s trying to challenge me who’s being helped by Elon Musk just know that that’s an Elon Musk sycophant who’s benefiting from the MAGA extreme right-wing money. This district’s not for sale.”
