ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A woman was shot and killed Monday afternoon in a domestic-related incident in Orange County, and her husband has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, according to law enforcement officials.
Officers responded to a reported Eaglesmere Drive shooting on April 6, 2026, at approximately 1:38 p.m. in the 4900 block of Eaglesmere Drive. Upon arrival, officers located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was later identified as Franyelin Annabel Pires Reyes, 27. Despite life-saving measures, she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigators determined that the suspect, identified as Himber Alexander Rivero Romero, 30, was the caller who reported the shooting and remained at the residence until law enforcement arrived. He was taken into custody at the scene.
Authorities said the couple had recently separated but continued living together in the same residence. Investigators believe the victim had begun a new relationship, which led to ongoing disputes between the couple in the days leading up to the shooting.
Rivero Romero has been charged with first-degree murder and is currently being held at the Orange County Jail.
Officials also confirmed that both the victim and suspect entered the United States at Eagle Pass, Texas, in September 2023 and claimed asylum. Authorities stated that an asylum application does not grant legal status while the application remains pending. An immigration detainer has been placed on the suspect while he remains in custody.
The Eaglesmere Drive shooting remains an active investigation. Law enforcement officials said limited information is being released at this time to protect the integrity of the case.
