The Tampa Bay Chamber recently recognized Chamber Member Kathy Times for being selected to facilitate the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) 2024 – 2025 Leadership Academy. The former TV news anchor turned entrepreneur is part of the 2024 Minority Empowerment Program (MEP). Harnessing her experiences as an Emmy award-winning journalist, Times customized her WOW curriculum for the leadership program, which trains NABJ news managers around the nation.
The MEP Entrepreneur is the founder of Kathy Times Wow, a professional development program and coaching service that helps clients present memorable, authentic brand stories to reach their goals. Her work helps leaders pivot and impress their target audiences with tools and best practices utilized by this Emmy award-winning professional. Times’ curriculum includes networking mastery, personal branding tools for online and in-person communications, and leadership development. The course and techniques can be used by any industry. Coupled with a mentoring component, the NABJ leadership program attracted the sponsorship of ABC News and its parent company, Disney. Read full announcement by NABJ.
“WOW is designed for high-performing leaders, entrepreneurs experts, and college students who are ready to take their careers, communication and soft skills, and personal brand to the next level,” said Times.
She added, “Whether you’re an emerging leader or a seasons executive, this course will provide you with the tools and techniques to stand out strategically in today’s competitive environment and develop a plan for success as a thought leader. I’m grateful to the Tampa Bay Chamber for helping me expand my business network and serve on committees that are vital to growing the local business community.”
Times shared her wonderful news with more than 700 guests during the Tampa Bay Chamber’s 139th Annual Meeting on December 6. Her success story was the first of several interactive moments between members in the audience and 2024 Board Chair Brian Adcock on stage. Times invited everyone to attend her next private WOW course online, which meets for 90 minutes weekly, from January 9 – February 27, 2025.
