APOPKA, Fla. — A 55-year-old Apopka man has been arrested on six felony counts related to child sexual abuse material following a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) investigation sparked by a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), authorities confirmed.
David Keith Beck Jr. was taken into custody as part of FDLE’s statewide child exploitation initiative, which focuses on identifying individuals who target children online and possess or distribute sexually abusive material involving minors.
Investigation Began With Federal Cybertip
According to FDLE, the investigation began in September when NCMEC forwarded a cybertip to state authorities. The tip indicated that an OpenAI-linked user account had accessed images depicting the sexual exploitation of children.
FDLE investigators later identified the user as Beck and determined he had allegedly downloaded images and videos depicting child sexual abuse, including material involving children as young as five years old.
Alleged Videos Filmed at Workplace Raise Additional Concerns
During the investigation, authorities also discovered videos of young girls in bathing suits stored on Beck’s electronic devices. Investigators determined the videos were allegedly recorded by Beck himself at his place of employment, according to FDLE.
Law enforcement officials said the discovery raised further concerns and could lead to additional criminal charges.
Search Warrant Executed in Apopka
On December 11, FDLE agents, assisted by the agency’s Special Operations Team, executed a search warrant at Beck’s residence in Apopka, a city in northwest Orange County.
Several electronic devices were seized and are currently undergoing digital forensic analysis. Beck was arrested and transported to the Orange County Jail, where he remains in custody.
Statewide Prosecution, Ongoing Investigation
The case is being prosecuted by the Florida Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution, led by Attorney General James Uthmeier. FDLE officials emphasized that the investigation remains active and ongoing, and that further arrests or charges are possible.
Beck is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
Community Safety and Central Florida Impact
Law enforcement officials stressed that cybertip reports from organizations such as NCMEC are a critical tool in identifying crimes involving the sexual exploitation of children—particularly in fast-growing Central Florida communities where online access among youth continues to expand.
For families across Apopka, Orange County, and greater Central Florida, authorities say the case underscores the importance of vigilance, community awareness, and reporting suspected abuse to law enforcement.
FDLE encourages anyone with information related to child exploitation or abuse to report concerns to local authorities or through national reporting systems.
