Orlando, Fla. — August 25, 2025
A Sunday evening domestic dispute turned deadly at an Orlando apartment complex, leaving two women dead and a suspect facing double murder charges.
According to the Orlando Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire at Village Springs Apartments, 5177 Cinderlane Parkway, shortly after 5:00 p.m. on August 24. Upon arrival, police discovered two women suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where they later died from their injuries.
Victims and Suspect
Investigators believe one of the victims had been in a relationship with the suspected shooter, Eliette De Jesus Marquez, 31. The second woman was a friend of the victim, police said.
Marquez fled the scene on foot but was captured nearby by members of the Orlando Police Department’s Tactical Anti-Crime Unit. He is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Police confirmed there are no additional suspects at large.
Community Impact
The Village Springs Apartments, located in northwest Orlando, is a densely populated complex where neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots before police swarmed the area.
The case underscores the persistent dangers of domestic-related violence, which experts warn can escalate with little warning. Law enforcement officials stress the importance of early intervention, protective resources, and community awareness to prevent intimate partner violence from turning fatal.
What Comes Next
Authorities have not yet released the names of the two women pending notification of their families. Marquez remains in custody.
“This is still an active investigation,” the Orlando Police Department said in a statement, adding that no further details are available at this time.
