Man Killed in Overnight Shooting Outside Orlando’s Magic Mall

A 46-year-old man was shot and killed early Sunday morning in the parking lot of Orlando’s Magic Mall, prompting a homicide investigation by local authorities.

Orlando Police Department officers were called to the shopping plaza, located at 2155 West Colonial Drive, around 2:19 a.m. on April 6, 2025, following reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found the victim, identified as Joseph U. Phillips, suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Despite life-saving efforts, Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene by members of the Orlando Fire Department.

Investigators spent several hours combing the area for evidence as crime scene tape blocked off a portion of the parking lot. At this time, police have not released any details regarding a suspect or a possible motive behind the shooting.

Authorities are urging anyone with information that could assist in the case to contact Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available.
