You will need:
1 1/2 Sticks of butter
1 1/2 cup of sugar
3 large eggs (Separate eggs and beat egg whites stiff, but not dry.)
1 1/2 cups of cake flour
4 oz of sour cream
1/4 teaspoon cooking soda
Instructions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks to butter and sugar mixture. Mix in the cooking soda and flour. Alternate adding with the sour cream. Fold in egg whites. Add 2 teaspoons of flavor extract of choice (vanilla extract, lemon, etc).
Bake for 65 minutes at 300 degrees. DO NOT preheat oven.
