OCOEE, Fla. — Alumni, families, and community supporters gathered Saturday, April 25, for a day of fellowship, celebration, and school pride as the Greater Orlando Chapter of the Florida A&M University National Alumni Association hosted its annual picnic in Ocoee.
The event served as a vibrant reminder of the chapter’s deep roots in Central Florida and its ongoing commitment to supporting students and strengthening the legacy of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, affectionately known as FAMU.
Attendees enjoyed an afternoon filled with laughter, music, games, and conversation as alumni and friends connected across generations. Families gathered under shaded pavilions, children played nearby, and the familiar sounds of fellowship echoed throughout the park. The relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere reflected the spirit of unity that has defined the Greater Orlando chapter for years.
Chapter leaders emphasize the annual picnic is more than a social gathering. It is an opportunity to engage alumni, welcome new supporters, and highlight the organization’s mission of raising scholarship funds, recruiting future students, and promoting a positive image of the university throughout the community. The chapter also works to influence community and governmental support for initiatives that advance the university’s priorities.
Members note the Greater Orlando Alumni Chapter has long been recognized as a cornerstone organization within the local community, consistently giving back through service, mentorship, and educational support. Events like the annual picnic help strengthen relationships among alumni while reinforcing the shared responsibility to invest in the next generation of scholars.
Through fellowship, service, and community engagement, the Greater Orlando FAMU Alumni Chapter’s annual picnic once again demonstrated the power of unity and the enduring spirit of Rattler pride.
The annual picnic remains one of the Greater Orlando FAMU Alumni Chapter’s signature events, bringing together alumni, families, and supporters to strengthen community ties and support student success.
