Event celebrates lasting contributions of Black Americans in Central Florida

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, District 5 City Commissioner Regina I. Hill and District 6 City Commissioner Bakari Burns Host Orlando’s Black History Month Community Celebration 
On Tuesday February 20th, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, District 5 City Commissioner Regina I. Hill and District 6 City Commissioner Bakari Burns held a Black History Community Celebration to recognize the lasting contributions and positive influence of Black Americans in the Central Florida community and across the nation. This event is part of the City of Orlando’s continued efforts to further a more equitable and inclusive community for all residents.

This community-wide free event included the participation of City of Orlando Poet Laureate Shawn Welcome, Standing Ovation Dancers, , entertainment, music, food and the debut of the , a choir featuring city employees. The event was held

at Camping World Stadium.
