Orange County Vote-By-Mail Requests for the August Primary Election Surpass 90,000 as the Supervisor of Elections Reminds Voters of Approaching Deadlines
Orange County, FL (July 24, 2024) – One week after mailing out more than 80,000 vote-by-mail ballots, the Orange County Supervisor of Elections office on Wednesday reported the total number of voters who have requested a vote-by-mail ballot for the upcoming August Primary Election is now more than 90,000.
As of 8:03 AM on Wednesday, July 24, the Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office has received 90,424 total requests for vote-by-mail ballots for the primary election.
Voters have until 5 PM on Thursday, August 8, to request a vote-by-mail ballot for the primary election. Under state law supervisors must “mail vote-by-mail ballots within 2 business days after receiving a request for such a ballot, but no later than the 10th day before election day.”
While overall requests for vote-by-mail ballots continue to come in, the numbers are still well behind where they were for the primary in 2020 (214,555) and 2022 (195,935).
Vote-by-mail requests expire after each federal general election cycle. Therefore, all vote-by-mail requests expired on December 31, 2022.
“Our amazing staff continues to process vote-by-mail requests as they come in each day,” said Orange County Supervisor of Elections Glen Gilzean. “Additionally, we have been partnering with civic groups across the county for weeks to spread awareness and ensure any vote who wishes to vote by mail can do so for the upcoming election.”
