On Monday, Tiffany Moore Russell officially filed to run for Orange County Mayor in the 2026 election, promising a bold new commitment to the community that shaped her.
Moore Russell’s top priorities include strengthening transportation systems, ensuring safer, healthier, and more vibrant communities, supporting small businesses and entrepreneurship, expanding access to parks and recreation, investing in career-building programs for youth, and taking bold action to ensure residents can afford to live in Orange County.
Moore Russell is known for taking on bold issues that others have shied away from. “In 2014, I fought a legal battle for equality—and won. As a result, on January 6, 2015, I issued the first same-sex marriage license in Orange County, sending a clear message: I will always strive to build a community that will champion necessary causes and deliver for those who put their trust in me,” Moore Russell said.
After filing on Monday, St. Mark AME Pastor Terence Gray said Moore Russell has his support. Gray said, “I’m really happy she’s making this decision to step forward by faith—especially on the day we find ourselves bringing an end to Women’s History Month.”
