ORLANDO, Fla. — A video circulating on social media showing an Orlando police officer making an arrest has prompted an internal review by the Orlando Police Department (OPD). The incident, which occurred on July 4, 2025, around 6:40 p.m., began with a call reporting a disturbance involving a firearm at 4334 Crossroads Court.
According to OPD, witnesses reported that a man was waving a gun in the presence of multiple people. When officers arrived at the scene, they encountered a suspect matching the witness description—later identified as Zion Ephraim Jessiah Skepple, 22.
Police say Skepple began walking away and looking back at the patrol vehicle, ignoring multiple verbal commands to stop. The officer deployed a Taser, which was initially ineffective. Skepple allegedly ran toward a nearby apartment and was struck by a second Taser deployment, causing him to fall before quickly regaining his footing.
As he neared the apartment door, officers report that Skepple turned away and appeared to reach for an unknown object. In response, the officer drew their service weapon and ordered him to the ground. Skepple complied and was taken into custody without further incident.
A search of the suspect reportedly uncovered a firearm with an extended magazine loaded with 31 rounds, along with a quantity of cannabis. Skepple now faces charges of Possession of Cannabis and Resisting an Officer Without Violence.
The department stated that the officer’s actions, as seen in the social media video, will be reviewed by OPD’s Internal Affairs Unit, in accordance with standard protocol.
“The safety of our community and the integrity of our department remain our top priorities,” an OPD spokesperson said. “This incident, like all use-of-force cases, will be thoroughly reviewed.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
