By Rhetta Peoples

Golf legend Tiger Woods was in arrested following a crash Friday afternoon in Jupiter Island, Florida, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

Martin County Sheriff, John Budensiek, said the crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. Officials did not immediately release details about the cause of the crash or the extent of his injuries, and the incident remains under investigation.

At least one witness told TMZ they saw Woods at the scene and said he appeared to be alert and in stable condition following the crash. Law enforcement had not publicly confirmed that assessment as of Friday evening.

The incident comes as Woods, 50, had recently returned to competition after recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon and back surgery. He had been weighing whether to compete in the upcoming Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club.

Friday’s crash also renewed attention to Woods’ history of serious injuries, including a 2021 rollover crash in California that required multiple surgeries and months of rehabilitation. Authorities said additional information about the latest incident would be released as the investigation continues.

Authorities are expected to hold a news conference at 5pm.

Update

According to the Sheriff, Woods was not injured and no drugs were found in his car. However, the Sheriff said he did show signs of impairment. After a series of roadside tests by authorities, Budensiek said Woods was arrested on DUI, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test charges. Budensiek added, Woods refused a urine test.

All parties involved escaped injury.

Budensiek said, “It doesn’t matter who you are, we’re going to follow the law.”
