Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer Celebrates Earth Month with “Earth Day Work Day”

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, along with downtown professionals, residents, and environmental advocates, gathered at City Hall Plaza today to celebrate Earth Month with the City’s annual Earth Day Work Day event. Themed “Planet vs. Plastics,” the event highlighted the importance of preserving the natural environment by reducing plastic use and promoting sustainable practices.

The Earth Day Work Day event transformed the downtown core into a vibrant sustainability fair featuring educational games, local vendors, live music, eco-friendly giveaways, and hands-on activities like painting rain barrels and assembling conservation kits. Attendees also had the opportunity to engage with the City’s Green Works team to learn more about Orlando’s sustainability goals, including efforts toward zero waste, clean energy, sustainable transportation, water conservation, and expanded recycling programs.

The event reflected the City’s ongoing commitment to enhancing quality of life, fostering inclusive economic growth, and building a more environmentally responsible and equitable community. Earth Day Work Day served as both a celebration and a call to action for residents to take part in protecting Orlando’s natural resources for future generations.
