WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Darren Soto (FL-09) voted to finalize $13,728,031 in Community Project funds for Florida’s Ninth Congressional District in the 2024 spending bills. These projects consider the most urgent needs of Florida’s Ninth Congressional District and aim to improve the lives of Central Floridians.
“I am incredibly honored to vote for these projects today. These 15 initiatives will help build affordable housing, alleviate traffic, prioritize pedestrian safety for students, strengthen the district’s clean water infrastructure and flood prevention efforts, improve our world-class airport, and more,” said Congressman Soto. “These projects were developed in partnership with our local governments in a bipartisan fashion to ensure we protect our quality of life in Orange, Osceola, and Polk Counties. I look forward to seeing this bill signed into law by President Biden.”
Rep. Soto championed funding for 15 projects that will directly benefit FL-09 residents. These include:
- $1,800,000 for The Haven on Vine
- $1,616,279 for Stormwater Improvements and Flood Prevention in Historic Downtown
- $960,000 for Reaves Road Force Main Replacement Project
- $697,000 for City of St. Cloud Downtown Water Main Replacement Project
- $745,000 for Roadway Improvements of Daetwyler Drive and Judge Road for Multi-Use Paths and Street Widening
- $850,000 for Marigold Avenue Safety Improvements

- $500,000 for East Orange County Green PLACE Environmentally Sensitive Lands Acquisition Project
- $500,000 for Pathway to Housing

House Democrats were successful in removing harmful extreme House Republican policies from these bills that attempted to slash efforts to fight climate change, threaten our national security, inflict on women’s reproductive rights, and more. Instead, these final bipartisan 2024 funding bills will help keep our communities safe, fight inflation, and boost our economy.

The remaining six appropriations bills for fiscal year 2024 are expected to be released in the coming days and be voted on ahead of their expiration on March 22.
