Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff Visits Little Haiti

Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff Visits Early Voting Location in Little Haiti, Slams Trump-Vance Attacks on Haitian Community.

Yesterday in Miami-Dade County, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff joined Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick and State Representative Marie Woodson to visit the Little Haiti Cultural Complex early voting site in Miami-Dade County. The Second Gentleman was greeted by voters, local Haitian leaders, small business owners, and community leaders and discussed the contributions of the Haitian community. The Second Gentleman spoke briefly to the crowd to highlight the contrast between the Harris-Walz campaign’s commitment to a New Way Forward and the divisive rhetoric from the Trump-Vance campaign, which has repeatedly targeted Haitian immigrants.

The visit is part of the Second Gentleman’s 2-day stop in South Florida and followed a campaign rally in Broward County where he spoke about Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz’s plans to invest in communities across the nation by lowering costs, supporting small businesses, and ensuring every American has the opportunity to not only get by, but get ahead. Donald Trump and JD Vance, meanwhile, have repeatedly echoed a false rumor about the Haitian community in Springfield, OH.

“Communities like Little Haiti are the heart of Florida’s vibrant spirit,” said Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus McCormick. “While Donald Trump and J.D. Vance continue to demean the Haitian community, undermine their vast contributions,  and divide our country, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are focused on bringing people together and lifting everyone up. They’re fighting for policies that work for all Americans and create real opportunities for everyone not to just get by, but to succeed.”

“Words matter,” said State Representative Marie Woodson. “When Trump and Vance attack Haitian immigrants, they aren’t just insulting a community—they are striking at the very heart of America’s foundational values of inclusion and opportunity. Doug Emhoff’s visit underscores a clear choice in this election: Donald Trump represents division, while Vice President Kamala Harris champions unity and progress.”
