Police: Shooting at Abundant Life Christian School Leaves At Least 5 Dead and 6 Injured

Today 5 people, including the shooter, were killed and 6 are injured after a shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin according to Madison police.

“I never saw so many police cars in my life — just blue and red lights lining the school, lining the streets. Fire department, paramedics, everyone was there,” swarming the usually quiet neighborhood, John Diaz de Leon told ABC News Live.

The shooting comes just two days away from the Sandy Hook shooting on December 14th in 2014. Officials are now working to reunite students with their parents. “We need to make sure that we can notify people. I think that’s the most important thing before we go any further,” Chief Barnes said.

United States Congressman Maxwell Frost (D-10) posted on the social media site X, “Just two days after the 12th anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting, we’re mourning yet another tragedy at a school in Madison, Wisconsin.” Congressman Frost’s statement continues, “My heart breaks for the victims and their loved ones at Abundant Life Christian School. School shootings don’t have to be a norm. Our students deserve to feel safe in their classrooms. We cannot afford to wait any longer to make that a reality.” Congressman Frost is the first legislator to help establish The White House Office of Gun Violence and Prevention alongside President Biden and Vice President Harris.

The suspect is a juvenile who to is believed to be a student of the school. Officers responded to the call around 10:57 am. According to police no officers fired their weapons.
