Orlando Tutor Arrested for Alleged Sexual Misconduct Involving High School Student

Orlando, FL — A Bishop Moore High School tutor and engineering teacher has been arrested following allegations of sexual misconduct involving a student, according to the Orlando Police Department.

The investigation began on May 7, 2025, when a student reported to school officials that she was inappropriately touched by her tutor, Jared Andrew Tatum, during a private tutoring session. Tatum, who also served as an engineering teacher at the school, was immediately terminated from his position following the report.

The school promptly notified the Orlando Police Department, initiating a criminal investigation. Detectives conducted multiple interviews, gathered statements, and reviewed DNA evidence, which ultimately led to formal charges being filed.

On June 19, 2025, members of the Orlando Police Department’s Fugitive Investigative Unit apprehended Tatum (DOB: 5/11/1994). He is facing the following felony charges:

  • Count 1: Lewd Touching of Certain Minors (Third Degree Felony)

  • Count 2: Attempted Sexual Battery of a Victim Over 12 Years of Age (Third Degree Felony)

Authorities state that, at this time, there is no evidence indicating the existence of additional victims. However, the investigation remains active and ongoing.
