Orlando Police Investigate Officer-Involved Shooting at Cason Cove Drive Apartment Complex

The Orlando Police Department (OPD) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on yesterday, in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

Yesterday evening, Orlando Police responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a man brandishing a firearm inside a 7-Eleven on Conroy Road. According to OPD witnesses said a man was waving the weapon at bystanders in the adjacent strip plaza parking lot. Surveillance footage also captured the individual holding the firearm inside a nearby dry cleaning business.

Upon arrival, officers located the suspect in the parking lot of the Cason Cove apartment complex. According to OPD, Officers issued several verbal commands in both English and Spanish, ordering the suspect to drop the weapon. The suspect failed to comply, prompting officers to open fire. The suspect was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Further investigation revealed the weapon to be a simulated firearm.

The investigation remains ongoing.
