An Orlando man with a history of violent run-ins with law enforcement has been charged with second-degree murder after allegedly fatally stabbing his father early Thursday morning.
According to the Orlando Police Department, officers responded to a home at 9456 Candice Court around 6:47 a.m. on April 3, 2025, following reports of a stabbing. When they arrived, they found Meb G. Yohan, 70, suffering from multiple lacerations. Emergency medical teams rushed him to Orlando Regional Medical Center, but he later died from his injuries.
Police quickly identified the suspect as Yohan’s son, Almeb Y. Gebreyohannes, 38. He was taken into custody without incident and is now facing a charge of Second-Degree Murder with a Weapon.
Authorities say this tragic incident follows a troubling pattern of violent behavior by Gebreyohannes. In 2014, he was involved in an officer-involved shooting after he charged at officers wielding a baseball bat. That confrontation began after a 911 call from his mother, reporting that her son was threatening to kill her.
In 2022, Gebreyohannes was again confronted by police when he produced a knife and threatened to stab an officer. During that encounter, he was subdued with a Taser.
Thursday’s fatal stabbing was also preceded by a call for service — this time from Yohan himself, who reported that his son had choked and battered him.
The investigation into the latest incident remains ongoing.
