Orlando Launches 407 Connect to Address Homelessness

A new initiative aimed at tackling homelessness in Orlando is set to launch, bringing a proven solution to the city. 407 Connect, inspired by the successful Dignity Bus model in Vero Beach, will introduce two custom-fabricated buses equipped to provide safe overnight shelter for individuals in need.

Each bus will feature sleeping pods, storage compartments, restrooms, pet accommodations, and other essential amenities, offering a secure and dignified space for up to 40 people at a time. The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Christian Service Center (CSC) and the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency, emphasizing a long-term approach to addressing homelessness.

Unlike traditional shelters, 407 Connect is designed not only as an immediate refuge but as a bridge to permanent housing. Individuals selected through the CSC’s case management team will not only have a safe place to sleep each night but will also gain access to critical services that support their transition into stable housing. Over the next three years, the program is expected to help more than 400 individuals find permanent homes.
