INITIAL RELEASE (9/6/2024):
On September 5, 2024, at 7:20 p.m., deputies responded to the 1800 block of Americana Boulevard in reference to a shooting. When they arrived, they found a 17-year-old who had been shot. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition. This is an active and ongoing investigation. We do not have any additional details to release at this time.
PREVIOUS UPDATE (9/8/2024):
We are sorry to report that the victim in this shooting, Arthy Sony Cetoute (DOB: 1/20/2007), died on September 7 at the hospital from his injuries.
This investigation is active and ongoing. Detectives are continuing to work all leads in this case. We do not have any additional details to release at this time.
UPDATE:
Two arrests have been made in this case.
On September 17, Derrick Sharod Lafure (DOB: 11/10/2006) was arrested on a charge of First Degree Murder with a Firearm.
On November 15, Ja’Corey Latrieus Lowery (DOB: 06/08/2006) was apprehended in Greensborough, North Carolina by the US Marshals on a charge of First Degree Murder with a Firearm.
We have no information on when he might be returned to Central Florida.
