Orange County Sheriff’s Office Releases Body Camera Footage of Deputy-Involved Shooting Following Drive-By Incidents

Drive-by shooting suspect George Spencer, Jr.

On January 8, 2025, deputies responded to two separate drive-by shootings at a residence on the 2100 block of San Jose Boulevard. The first occurred at 2:40 a.m., followed by a second shooting at 8:40 a.m. Deputies recovered shell casings at the scene, but no injuries were reported.

Following an investigation, law enforcement tracked the suspect to a residence in the 5200 block of Montague Place. There, deputies encountered multiple individuals, including Spencer, who was armed with a handgun equipped with an extended magazine. Two deputies discharged their service weapons at the armed suspect. In the exchange, another individual was struck in the foot and sustained a non-life-threatening injury.

At that time, authorities anticipated additional charges against multiple individuals involved in the drive-by shooting. At least one firearm was recovered from the scene and no deputies were injured.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is leading an investigation into the deputy-involved shooting. Once FDLE concludes its review, the findings will be submitted to the State Attorney’s Office for further evaluation. Following that process, OCSO will conduct its own internal investigation.

The deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on temporary, paid administrative leave pending FDLE’s initial review.
