Orange County Supervisor of Elections Concludes August Primary Election with a Successful Audit of Results
Today the Orange County Canvassing Board met to audit the election results from the August primary Election.
The audit, which is mandated by state statute (101.591) if there is not a recount, covered County Commissioner, District 5, Precinct 505; a race and precinct which were chosen at random.
The purpose of the audit is to add a layer of security to the election by verifying a final time that the official results submitted to the state are correct. Members of the supervisor of elections staff under the supervision of the Orange County Canvassing Board conducted the audit beginning at 9 AM Thursday and concluding just before 10 o’clock.
“I would like to congratulate the entire team of more than 2,200 staff members and poll workers who helped ensure a seamless August Primary Election,” said Orange County Supervisor of Elections Glen Gilzean. “Today’s required audit is the final step in the primary election as we now pivot to November and the general election.”
With the August Primary Election now complete, the Orange County Supervisor of Elections would like to remind voters of some key upcoming deadlines for the 2024 November General Election:
- Deadline to register to vote: October 7
- Deadline to request vote-by-mail ballot: October 24
- Early Voting: October 21 – November 3
- Election Day: November 5
