An Orange County grand jury formally indicted Anthony Shea, 49, for First Degree Murder with a Firearm for shooting and killing his wife, an Orange County Sheriff’s Office lieutenant, and Tampering with Evidence in a Capital Proceeding.
On Oct. 14, 2024, Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home in east Orange County and found OCSO Lieutenant Eloilda Shea, 39, with a gunshot wound. Medical personnel transported her to a local hospital but she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
According to an arrest report, Eloilda Shea was killed around 2 p.m. in the couple’s home. Deputies said they received a call regarding an apparent suicide. Anthony Shea claimed he and Eloilda had “a rough night.” Afterwards, he said he opened the door to the bedroom and found his wife in a pool of blood on the bed. The arrest report also stated Anthony did not perform any lifesaving procedures.
Investigators determined Lt. Shea’s husband, former Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy Anthony Shea, intentionally shot and killed his wife in their home and subsequently attempted to alter evidence.
On Nov. 20, the State presented sufficient evidence to a grand jury to secure a two-count indictment against Shea for First Degree Murder with a Firearm and Tampering with Evidence in a Capital Proceeding.
