Florida Leaders Host Latinos con Harris-Walz Event in Osceola

Yesterday, in Osceola, U.S. Representative Darren Soto, U.S. Senate candidate Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, state Senator Victor Torres, and state Senator-elect Carlos Guillermo Smith joined Latino leaders from across Florida for a Latinos con Harris-Walz event to energize Latino voters and highlight Vice President Kamala Harris’ commitment to uplifting Latino communities. Latinos con Harris-Walz aims to engage and mobilize voters and lay out the clear choice facing Latino voters this year: Vice President Harris is fighting for a future that strengthens our democracy, protects reproductive freedom, and ensures every person has the opportunity not just to get by, but to get ahead. She is committed to fixing our broken immigration system and protecting our fundamental freedoms.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda would take the country backward and make life harder for Latino Floridians. Trump continues to demonize immigrants, push for mass deportations, and advocate for policies that strip away essential rights and freedoms. His policies while president led to Latino unemployment spiking to over 18% and his extreme Project 2025 agenda would cause higher health care costs and give tax breaks to billionaires and corporations at the expense of working families.

“For far too long, Floridians have suffered from the consequences of Rick Scott and Donald Trump’s extreme policies and many failures,” said U.S. Senate candidate Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. “Today, because of Trump and Rick Scott, home insurance rates are skyrocketing due in part to their climate change denial, an extreme abortion ban is jeopardizing the lives of women, and Florida is becoming unaffordable for our families. Floridians are ready for change, and together, we will send Vice President Kamala Harris to the White House in November.”

“As Vice President, –Kamala Harris has been a fighter for Latinos and our rights – the right to have affordable health care for all, the right for women to make decisions about their own bodies, and the right to use our voices and our vote to elect leaders that will represent us–la gente,” said state Senator Victor Torres. “When Donald Trump was in office, each day was a new insult to our community – but Kamala Harris actually puts in the work, listening to our concerns, meeting our voters where they are, and standing up for us.” said state Senator-elect Carlos Guillermo Smith.

Florida Leaders gather in Osceola County to support Vice President Kamala Harris for President

“Vice President Harris grew up in a middle-class family, understanding the value of hard work and the critical importance of opportunity. And Vice President Harris has a plan to make housing more affordable and accessible — to lower rents and ensure everyone can find a home.”

“While Donald Trump and his MAGA allies have disparaged hard working Latinos across Florida, the Harris campaign is engaging and mobilizing organizers to talk about what’s at stake for Latinos in this election,” said state House Candidate Maria Revelles. “Vice President Harris has fought tirelessly to make sure that Latino communities across the country and right here in the Sunshine State have the resources they need to succeed.”
