A criminal investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) led to the arrest of five undocumented immigrants in the Tampa Bay area on Tuesday. The arrests were made in coordination with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) during two separate operations.
In the first operation, FDLE and HSI agents executed a federal arrest warrant at a residence in Tampa, where they apprehended a Honduran national who was wanted by authorities. During the raid, three other undocumented Honduran nationals living in the same home were also taken into custody.
Later that day, FDLE agents arrested a Guatemalan national in Plant City. Like the others, he was in the country illegally and was the subject of an active federal investigation.
FDLE officials confirmed that all five individuals remain in custody as the investigation continues. Authorities have not yet disclosed the specific charges or legal proceedings the suspects will face.
The arrests are part of an ongoing effort by FDLE and HSI to target individuals involved in criminal activity and enforce federal immigration laws in Florida.
