NEW DELHI — “Rock On!!,” Bollywood filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor’s 2007 drama musical film, on Aug. 29, 2021, clocked 13 years since its release on the silver screen.
The film stars Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal, Prachi Desai, Purab Kohli, Luke Kenny, and Shahana Goswami.
As a tribute to his film, Akhtar took to his Instagram story and shared a graphic collage image where “Rock On!!” cast members can be seen along with several musical instruments.
On a drum is written “Magik,” the name of their rock band in the film.
“Celebrating 13 years of Rock On!!” read the text on the picture.
Akhtar, who is known for his films like “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag,” “Toofaan,” “Luck By Chance,” and “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara,” marked his singing and acting debut with “Rock On!!”
Rampal also took to his Instagram handle and expressed gratitude for his co-actors and crew members.
“13 saal ho gaye, yadein aaj bhi bilkul taazi hain (it’s been 13 years, but the memories are still fresh),” he captioned the picture in Hindi.
“A film that changed so many lives, including mine, and touched millions of hearts. Adi, KD aur (and) Rob loved the Magik. My love and sincere gratitude, @gattukapoor, for making this film and bringing Joe to life (sic).”

Kapoor also shared a string of images from various scenes of his directorial on his Instagram handle.
“Hum honge, lights hongi, ek huge audience hogi, aur hogi music, jiske har beat mein, har note mein zindagi hogi… (There will be us, there will be lights; we would have a huge audience and then there will be music, and in it’s every beat, there will be life) (sic),” he quoted this famous dialog from the film alongside the post.
He also shared an IGTV video where he is seen conversing with Rampal, discussing memories, and sharing “behind-the-scenes” trivia from “Rock On!!”
Kenny also shared a heartfelt post on his Instagram on the 13th anniversary of the film.
“13 years of #RockOn!! The rock ‘n’ roll continues. Thank you for all the Magikal love and affection,” he captioned the picture.
“Rock On!!” was produced by Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment, with music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
The film’s sequel, “Rock On 2” was released in 2016; however, the film received a lukewarm response from the audience.
Some popular songs of the film, including “Tum Ho Toh,” “Pichle Saat Dinon Mein,” and the title track “Rock On!!,” were all sung by Akhtar.
