Farah Khan Kunder Drops Throwback Photo From ‘1942: A Love Story’ Sets

MUMBAI, India — Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan Kunder, on Aug. 23, 2021, shared a throwback “Behind The Scenes” picture featuring herself with Manisha Koirala from the film set of “1942: A Love Story.”

Taking to her Instagram handle, Kunder shared the image in which she can be seen sitting on a staircase, posing for the camera, along with Koirala and director-screenwriter Vicky Chopra.


“Monday Memories!! That’s the beautiful @m_koirala n unbelievably the skinny girl is me! with #vickychopra goofing as always on the song shoot of #1942alovestory (sic),” she wrote alongside the picture.

The picture features the trio posing at the film’s set of the romantic song “Kuchh Na Kaho.”

The song was composed by R. D. Burman, with lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar and vocals by Kumar Sanu.

“1942: A Love Story” is a 1994 Hindi patriotic romance film, directed and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, starring Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Koirala, Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa, and Pran.

The movie’s plot revolves around the son (Kapoor) of a politician, loyal to British rule, who romances the daughter (Koirala) of a freedom fighter. They are separated during the revolution when her father plots to assassinate a British general.

On a separate note, Kunder, who last directed 2014’s action-comedy film “Happy New Year,” recently shared her filmmaking insights for an event organized by Airbnb called “Bollywood Insiders.”

The 10-day online festival, which ran from Aug. 13, 2021, to Aug. 22, 2021, featured several members of the Indian film industry, who talked about acting, directing, lifestyle, and other related topics with the viewers.

Talking about the festival earlier, Kunder said she would share several anecdotes from her experiences.

“My mantra in life is to have fun no matter what it is that you are doing, and that is the spirit I bring to my Online Experience,” she said.

“My ‘Behind the lens’ experience is going to be an hour of fun-filled conversations with a fun round of auditions where guests will get to deliver their favorite movie dialogue in front of me. I’ll also share a lot of behind-the-scenes anecdotes from my experience directing Bollywood films and skill-building.”

In her directorial career in Bollywood, Kunder has helmed films like “Main Hoon Na” (2004), “Om Shanti Om” (2007), “Tees Maar Khan” (2010), and “Happy New Year” (2014).

She has served as a choreographer in several Bollywood films like “Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar,” “Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa,” “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,” “Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.,” “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…,” “Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna,” etc.

Apart from directing and choreographing, Kunder has also played small parts in several films like “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” “Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai,” “Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi,” “Student of the Year,” “Tutak Tutak Tutiya,” etc.
