Today, the Orange County Black Caucus held a press conference alongside Central Florida elected officials & leaders to express strong and enthusiastic support for Vice President Harris as the Democratic Nominee for President. The Orange County Democratic Party (DEC) will also share their endorsement and updates on how to get involved with the Harris For President campaign.
Florida State Senator Geraldine Thompson, (D-Ocoee) made it clear that Harris is qualified but faces challenges as a woman vying for the highest seat in the land. Thompson said, “If her plumbing were different, there’d be no question that a lawyer, that a state attorney, that a prosecutor, that a U.S. Senator can lead.”
Polls show Florida, Trump’s home state, is sitting only 4 points behind Trump. Orange County Party Chair Samuel Vilchez Santiago said Florida is a state that should and can turn blue to ensure a presidential victory for Harris. “We all understand what’s at stake here,” Santiago said.
The elected officials included Orange County Clerk of Courts Tiffany Moore Russell, Florida State Senator Geraldine Thompson, Florida State Representative Lavon Bracy Davis, Orlando City Commissioner Bakari Burns, Duly-elected State Attorney Monique Worrell, Orange County Democratic Party Chair Samuel Vilchez Santiago and Orange County Democratic Timothy Ayers.
