On October 7th, Hamas killed and kidnapped approximately 400 Israelis at the Nova Dance and Music Festival in South Israel.
Although Israel and Palestine have been engaged in war for years, Israel has increased the attacks on Palestinian citizens since the attack on October 7.
Currently, over 27,000 Palestinian men, women, children and even babies have been killed in the Israeli attacks. Israel claims the attacks on the citizens are warranted because Hamas is hiding behind its citizens. That claim has been highly scrutinized by people across the world.
Last Tuesday Florida District 10 Congressman Maxwell Frost has voiced his concerns about what some people are calling a genocide.
In a news release Frost said, “Like President Biden and House Democratic Leadership, I am disgusted by Congressional Republicans’ ability to treat our allies and innocent civilians caught in the crossfires of war as human collateral in a political game.”
Frost added, “The bill that was presented to the House tonight included no humanitarian aid for the vulnerable people of Gaza, included no mention of support for our Ukrainian allies desperately in need of help as they fight off communist Russia and Vladimir Putin, and it included no funding for the security of places of worship across our country that are under constant threat of violence as anti-semitic and anti-muslim rhetoric dangerously continue to rise.”
“I continue to believe in a two-state solution for both the Israeli and Palestinian people and believe any aid package must support this mission for lasting peace. I also continue to call for the end of war so that the innocent people of Gaza can live to see another day and all Israeli hostages are safely released. H.R. 7217 brings us nowhere closer to these dual goals,” Frost said.
Since his time in office, Frost has made significant strides against violence including working with President Biden and Vice President Harris to create the Office of Gun Violence Prevention.
