ORLANDO, Fla. — Residents of Pine Hills gathered Sunday morning for The Yaya Foundation’s Prayer Walk, marking three years since the February 22, 2023 shootings that claimed the lives of T’Yonna Major, Natacha Augustin and Dylan Lyons.

The walk began at Pine Hills Elementary School at 9:30 a.m., on the exact three-year anniversary of the tragedy. Community members came together in prayer, reflection and fellowship to honor the victims and support their families.

Despite the threat of rain, turnout was strong.

Dozens of residents walked together through the neighborhood. Others who were unable to participate stood on their porches, clapping, waving and offering words of encouragement as the group passed by. The visible show of support added to the morning’s message of unity.

Prayer was led by Pastor Joel Polk, who called for continued healing and peace in Pine Hills. Faith leaders and families walked side by side, with children, parents and elders participating.

Organizers described the event as a moment to remember those lost while also reaffirming the strength of the community. Refreshments were provided following the walk, allowing neighbors to connect and reflect together.

The February 22, 2023 shooting deeply impacted Pine Hills and the broader Central Florida community. Three years later, Sunday’s gathering showed that the neighborhood continues to stand together.

As the walk concluded late Sunday morning, the rain held off and residents left with a renewed sense of faith, solidarity and hope.
