2024 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday Has Begun

On May 7th, Governor Ron DeSantis signed an annual package of tax breaks. HB 7073 was passed by lawmakers during the legislative session that ended in March. The bill is expected to trim state and local revenue by $439.6 million throughout the upcoming 2024-2025 fiscal year. The sales tax holiday begins Saturday, June 1 and extends through Friday, June 14. A second exemption period will begin Saturday, August 24 and extend through Friday, September 6 which is just before the peak of the hurricane season.

The bill provides $1.07 billion in tax relief for Floridians this year, in addition to the $450 million in toll relief that DeSantis signed last month.
